🧭 Step 1: Name the Badge
Write the identity label that governs this area of life:
“I’m the anxious one.” “I’m the martyr.” “I’m the rebel.”
Say it aloud. Feel its weight.
If it sounds like a nickname, it’s directing your script.
🔍 Step 2: Inventory the Perks
For that badge, list every hidden or social benefit you receive:

Be brutally honest. Perks aren’t sins; they’re incentives.

Beside each perk, note what it costs:

When the costs outweigh the perks on paper, the mind softens its grip.
🔄 Step 4: Draft a New Badge
Craft a replacement identity that keeps the healthy perks, drops the price:
“I’m the steadfast one—calm under pressure, still adventurous.”
“I’m the boundaried giver—helpful without self-erasure.”
“I’m the curious builder—questions and follow-through.”
Speak it in the mirror once daily for a week. Corny? Yes. Effective? Also yes—identity rewires through repetition plus small proof.
🧪 Step 5: Run a Micro-Disconfirming Act
Choose one action that directly conflicts with the old badge but aligns with the new one—tiny, achievable today:

“Anxious One” → Spend 2 minutes sitting with an urge to check without checking.

“Martyr” → Say “I can’t help tonight, but here’s tomorrow.”

Log what happens. Each disconfirming act cracks the badge further.
